I hope and trust that this email finds you well. As I have had a few weeks to adjust to my new role, there are a few items that I wanted to share with you as we prepare for the upcoming fraternal year.
Let me now take this opportunity to congratulate the chapters and members of the North Central Province who were recognized during the 80th Grand Chapter meeting. First, please join me in congratulating the chapters that won Reclamation Awards during the Conclave:
Next, the North Central Province had several individual members who were recognized:
Finally, I want to give a special recognition to Tony Williams for the poise and presence that he displayed during the week and, unfortunately, in the face of defeat. Brothers, let me assure that Brother Williams did himself and the North Central Province proud during the Conclave. I look forward to working with him over the next year.
The C. Rodger Wilson Leadership Conference will be held in Champaign-Urbana, IL on the campus of University of Illinois. The dates are October 26 – 29, 2011. It is important to note that there is a change in format this year. MOIP will start on the evening of Oct. 26th (Wednesday) and is scheduled to be completed by Oct. 28th (Friday). There will be a public meeting that evening and the leadership training sessions will be on Oct. 29th (Saturday).
The rationale for the change is to allow the new initiates an opportunity to fully participate in the leadership training portion of the conference.
So, as you are planning your arrival into Champaign-Urbana, MOIP candidates and brothers responsible for MOIP should plan to arrive on Wednesday. Others should plan to arrive on Friday to participate in the Public Meeting.
As I stated in an earlier email, we will be implementing chapter certification starting this fall. The board and I are working to finalize the details behind the process and we shall communicate them in full in the near future.
In the meantime, please click here to review the chapter certification check list. Rest assured that for all chapters, these requirements are things that should already be a part of your normal chapter operations. However, also be advised that failure to pass certification will result in your chapter not being in good standing. This will mean being denied the opportunity to participate in intake and possibly being denied the ability to vote during the upcoming Province Council Meeting.
As you can see, the board and I are taking chapter certification very seriously. Given this, I will reiterate this messaging in all emails until CRWLC.
Please forward to me the names of brothers that you are recommending as Chapter Advisors for the upcoming year fraternal year. I would like to receive these names by August 10th.
Brothers, thank you in advance for the work that you do on behalf of your respective chapters, the Province and the Fraternity as a whole. Please enjoy the remainder of your summer as we have "hard work to do and loads to lift" this upcoming fraternal year.
Talk to you soon.
Yours in the Bond,
Korlon L. Kilpatrick II
